Medicare advantage cost: what the programme publishes

There are two halves to this question and only one of them has a published answer. The half that is published is what Medicare itself charges, which is the same for everyone and stated by the programme. The half that is not is what any particular plan charges, which varies by plan and by year and which this site does not quote, because quoting a plan's premiums or cost sharing is marketing under the rules that govern this market.

The part that is published, and is the same for everyone

Whatever coverage a person chooses, Part B continues and so does its premium: in 2026 the standard Part B premium is $202.90 each month, or higher depending on income, and Medicare says in terms that a person must keep paying it to stay in a Medicare Advantage plan. Original Medicare's other published costs sit alongside it, and they are the baseline any private arrangement is measured against: the Part B deductible is $283, and Part B coinsurance is usually 20% of the Medicare-approved amount.

The part that is not published anywhere central

Medicare's own cost page answers the plan side in three words: it varies by plan, and so do deductibles, copayments, coinsurance and the annual out-of-pocket limit. There is no national figure because there is no national plan. This site does not fill that gap with an average, because an average is not what anyone pays, and it does not fill it with a named plan's figures, because doing so would make these pages marketing material under 42 CFR 422.2260.

Why the monthly figure compares nothing

The two arrangements a reader is choosing between do not line up on a premium. One typically charges more each month and less when care happens; the other often charges little extra each month and more at the point of use, up to an annual limit. Comparing only the monthly figures therefore compares the halves that are not comparable. What CAN be compared, and what this site publishes, is how many people in each state made each choice, which is a fact rather than a projection.

Questions people ask about medicare advantage cost

Do I still pay the Part B premium on a Medicare Advantage plan?

Yes. Medicare says a person must have Part B and keep paying its premium to stay in a plan. In 2026 the standard premium is $202.90 a month, or higher depending on income.

Why does this page not list plan premiums?

Because they vary by plan and by year, and because quoting a plan's premiums or cost sharing is marketing under the federal rules for this market. This site is a reference.

Is there an out-of-pocket limit?

Medicare says every Medicare Advantage plan has one and that it varies by plan. Once it is reached the plan pays the full cost of covered services for the rest of the year.

Where do I find what a specific plan costs?

Medicare's own plan finder, or your State Health Insurance Assistance Program, which is free and is not paid on what you choose.
